He uses the litterbox very well while we are at home and watching him closely. Overnight and while we are at work he goes some in it and some right in front of the gate. I think he might be punishing us for locking him up. As you can see in the video, I tried moving his food to that area because animals don't eliminate near their food but he still went pretty close to it last night. Anyone have any tips? I do think he does very well with it for being so young.
though i dont have any tips, i suspect that linds and her parents would prob know. you guys should get another dog too. oh, no wait, that will be me when linds moves in with maggie. oh joy.
you can bell train him. they do that with a lot of apartment dogs. when you're on your way to take him out, ring a little bell that is accessable to him and make sure he sees it (or use his nose or paw to ring it). eventually, he'll equate the bell with going outside and will ring it on his own when he has to go.
JW, I have heard of the bell training and I think it works. But we are litter box training Carlos so he can go right in the box in the kitchen. When he is alone, he just chooses to go in front of the gate, rather than in the litter box five feet away.

Nice. I like the 3 second delay between the toy landing and Carlos going after it.
Is he using a litter box?

I would say it is just going to take time "house breaking him."
When I was over the other night, Morgan held him over the litter box and squeezed to make him go.
