yikes

I was posting a comment on a different blog, and it seems firefox decided to remember to store my blogger user name and password. I am not sure why this has never happened before. Anyways, after typing my comment and submitting it (after using the word verification) I realized that there was a link on my name that I had never seen before.

I generally post as Brian. I just select "other" and type in my name. Then it seems it is always displayed as brian. Not sure why. In any case, this time there was a link and when i clicked on it it took me to my sweet blog. I hadnt checked it out in a long time. I am pretty positive no one has ever read it before because I have never even told anyone it existed. Perhaps so power bloggers with a lot of free time or a stalker has come across it. But its unlikely that anyone who knows me has seen it.

Maybe this will motivate me to actually update it from time to time. Or maybe it wont.

fantasy draft

I have a fantasy baseball draft tonight at 9:00 pm. I am sort of worried about it for a number of reasons. First of all, in case you werent aware I am pretty big into fantasy sports. Also this draft is in my most serious league, so it is also the league that i want to win the most. Anyway, it happens that I am on a kickball game and for some reason we had our game rescheduled to tonight at 8:30. well, because a guy got married last weekend, and 2 others are out of town this week, i have to go to the game. i dont really mind anyways because kickball is super fun. oh, i forgot to mention that 3 other of my friends who are on my kickball team are in the fantasy draft also. So if we were to all miss the game our team would have to forfeit. so missing the game is not an option (not to mention there are only like 8 games and they are super fun so i wouldnt want to miss them anyways). But the problem is with my draft strategy. I am getting a friend to log in as me and draft my team based on advice that i give him. i think i will just take manny ramirez with my first pick. since i am picking at 4, i am quite sure he will be available. i think pujols will go, along with tejada (i have insider info), and i then either beltran or arod or vlad. that means that two of those last 3 will be available. but arod is on the yankees and also he is a 3B now, which takes away some of his fantasy value since there are a bunch of other 3B who I think are pretty money. plus i had the first pick last year and took arod and wasnt super satisfied with his performance. then beltran is going to ny. and i hate the mets. i also am sketical of him signing this huge deal. he was absolutely unreal last year in the playoffs though, and he did steal mad bases. but he also hit 260 last year. plus instead of the normal 5x5 league this league has an extra pitching and hitting category and in hitting the category is ops. he is not ideal for this category, but as i said he makes up for it in the sb category. vlad is another option but he is not always healthy. he is solid, and despite the fact that he swings at everything he manages to hit 300 with mad bombs and rbis every year. but the problem is manny ramirez does almost the same thing, with less injury factor and he plays on my favorite team. so all taht being said at this point in time i am leaning towards taking manny. i think i woudl take pujols ahead of him, but other than that i dont know. plus i think its key to just get someone you can count on in the first round. there are rarely "great" first round picks. but there are bad ones. if you pick a guy who gets hurt for a long time that is no good. the "great" picks are the guys you get not in the first round who put up first round numbers.

so anyways, enough about that. since our pitcher is on his honeymoon i am goign to try pitching tonight at the kickball game. i am not sure how it will go but atleast i have an approach. i am going to try to attack both sides of the plate with fast pitches, bouncing about 8-10" off the ground. I think this is the best way to try to limit the offense of the other team. of course, a huge part of kickball is defense, so hopefully our team will play better in the field than they did last week...

i will post an update about the results of the game. also we have a team webpage, its http://mugsandpitcher.tripod.com/

Pinner

So this is my first post in my new blogger. I dont really have any particular topic that i feel like writing about. If you know me than you are probably thinking that wont stop me from talking or typing. Well, you must know me well, because you are correct.

I will warn anyone reading this that I am not particularly good with words. I am not what you would call a good writer. I have a very limited vocabulary. I dont read very many books. So thats an overview of me.

Now about this journal... it is something new that I have never tried. But I feel like I have a lot to say so I figured why not write it down. I have no focus, instead I plan on using this as a preview/snapshot/sample of one aspect of my life.

Consider you are walking through the Mall of Life (Elton John CD's are not sold here don't worry). Instead of the department store you go into the food court of fun. You still aren't sure what you want, but you sample the chicken on the toothpick. You are pretty certain that you don't even want the chicken, but you get it anyways. To make things worse, you are less concerned with getting any enjoyment out of the chicken and more concerned with not getting a bad bite. A bad bite is when you eat chicken and you get something that is not meat. Anyways, back to the food court of fun. Consider this blog a free sample of chicken from my restaurant.

So now you have an idea of what i am trying to accomplish with this blog. Or maybe you don't. Perhaps you have no idea and you are just wondering why you were in some crazy mall eating Brian's bird for lunch. In either case, I hope you didn't hate it that much. And that maybe you will ever consider coming back to this site and reading more.

So a final thought for this post. I was thinking about this a lot lately (well really not at all, I just thought of it)... i think it is annoying when you are sitting next to someone on the airplane and they try to impress you. i recently went to las vegas and sat next to this guy. he was cool, very nice, and probably quite successful. But he was so pressed to make me think he was the man. And the worst part was that I was genuinely unimpressed. I didnt care. This guy saw my friend reading a car magazine and was like "i have a sweet benz" and i was like "nice" as i eat my peanuts and pretend to be interested in the ingredients. So then he sees the Maxim (or whatever other magazine we had) and comes back with "my wife is hot, and really cool because she lets me come out here one weekend a year with all my boys" so I fake nod and still dont even make eye contact with this guy. Ok this story is getting lame, and thats really all i care to say about that. Just be careful to not end up being that guy, he is what I would call a pinner.
