This is a survey for men. I appologize in advance to all my beautiful female readers, and want to let you know that you may still post your opinion on this controversial topic. Just know the question was intended for men.
I am curious as to how many people actually use the fly in their pants. When I am going number 1, i lower my clothing to go. I know the purpose of the zipper, and if I utilized the zipper more, I realize that I could go without undoing my belt/button/etc. In theory its a sweet concept. little trap door for going number 1. However, I dont think that very many men use only the zipper for exclusive access to that area. I hypothesize that a majority of males, like myself, open the button to their pants and stretch their clothing to go number 1 when standing. Maybe I am in the minority, I dont really know.

OK, so I can't tell you what men do. However, knowing the anatomy of a man, and the anatomy of boxers, briefs, and boxer briefs and pants with zippers, I'm going to guess that it would be more akward fishing around in there for your mule to go pee than it would be to just stretch and go. Maybe I'm confused in the whole operation, but that's what I envision happening. That's just a humble female opinion.
I always unbotton and pull down, there are way to many things that can go wrong if you're just using the zipper.
I actually undo the belt, button and fly and stretch my boxers down. Personally, I prefer the comfort of not having to stretch my jeans/pants down. The reason I don't only unzip the fly is two-fold: 1. It does require a certain amount of fishing that is further hindered by having to manipulate the boxer opening too, and 2. I'm too afraid that it might increase the chances of the franks and beans situation from There's Something about Mary. AKA, I'm too scared to try it that way.
Are you guys serious? It's like in 2nd grade when you dropped everything to the floor and were standing in front of the urinal with your bare ass exposed to the world. There's just too many jokes to comment on trying to "find" your piece when going #1. I'm just saying I've never had trouble fishing for it because it's extremely hard to miss. Alright, with that being said, I always use the fly function when going #1. Even with button-fly where it gets a little more difficult, I use it. It's what men can do. We don't have to drop out drawers to pee.
I just canb't get the image out of mind of Eric, Mike, and Cuzman standing in a row at the urinals with bare, white (I imagine) asses hanging out. Too funny.
no cuz, we dont drop our entire clothing. we just unbutton, unzip, then lower the clothing.
that is one option.
the other option is to keep your pants entirely up, and only unzip the fly and go. that is the fancy style. i use the zipper to loosen my pants, but i also undo the button. lately there have been rumors of people using ONLY the zipper. aka your dude is right against the zipper and out your fly, without unbuttoning your pants.
There are a lot of inappropriate things that I could post....but since this is a public posting, I will refrain.
I use the full open front method with the back of my pants covering my buns. I agree that with the zipper, there is always an element of danger. But I do leave my zipper open sometimes (I wear boxer briefs so there is no danger of something popping out) to see who is looking at my package.
Here is an update. I just went to the bathroom and I feel that the zipper only method could work. I think that the key to the zipper only method is having boxer briefs. Using those, you are able to prevent getting "caught" because once it is in there, there is little danger of your dooder popping out....which could happen with regular boxers.

i totally agree with you regarding boxer briefs. as long as you are held in there is no risk of zippage. FYI in teh future be on the lookout for my post about those specific type of underwear.
