fantasy draft

I have a fantasy baseball draft tonight at 9:00 pm. I am sort of worried about it for a number of reasons. First of all, in case you werent aware I am pretty big into fantasy sports. Also this draft is in my most serious league, so it is also the league that i want to win the most. Anyway, it happens that I am on a kickball game and for some reason we had our game rescheduled to tonight at 8:30. well, because a guy got married last weekend, and 2 others are out of town this week, i have to go to the game. i dont really mind anyways because kickball is super fun. oh, i forgot to mention that 3 other of my friends who are on my kickball team are in the fantasy draft also. So if we were to all miss the game our team would have to forfeit. so missing the game is not an option (not to mention there are only like 8 games and they are super fun so i wouldnt want to miss them anyways). But the problem is with my draft strategy. I am getting a friend to log in as me and draft my team based on advice that i give him. i think i will just take manny ramirez with my first pick. since i am picking at 4, i am quite sure he will be available. i think pujols will go, along with tejada (i have insider info), and i then either beltran or arod or vlad. that means that two of those last 3 will be available. but arod is on the yankees and also he is a 3B now, which takes away some of his fantasy value since there are a bunch of other 3B who I think are pretty money. plus i had the first pick last year and took arod and wasnt super satisfied with his performance. then beltran is going to ny. and i hate the mets. i also am sketical of him signing this huge deal. he was absolutely unreal last year in the playoffs though, and he did steal mad bases. but he also hit 260 last year. plus instead of the normal 5x5 league this league has an extra pitching and hitting category and in hitting the category is ops. he is not ideal for this category, but as i said he makes up for it in the sb category. vlad is another option but he is not always healthy. he is solid, and despite the fact that he swings at everything he manages to hit 300 with mad bombs and rbis every year. but the problem is manny ramirez does almost the same thing, with less injury factor and he plays on my favorite team. so all taht being said at this point in time i am leaning towards taking manny. i think i woudl take pujols ahead of him, but other than that i dont know. plus i think its key to just get someone you can count on in the first round. there are rarely "great" first round picks. but there are bad ones. if you pick a guy who gets hurt for a long time that is no good. the "great" picks are the guys you get not in the first round who put up first round numbers.

so anyways, enough about that. since our pitcher is on his honeymoon i am goign to try pitching tonight at the kickball game. i am not sure how it will go but atleast i have an approach. i am going to try to attack both sides of the plate with fast pitches, bouncing about 8-10" off the ground. I think this is the best way to try to limit the offense of the other team. of course, a huge part of kickball is defense, so hopefully our team will play better in the field than they did last week...

i will post an update about the results of the game. also we have a team webpage, its http://mugsandpitcher.tripod.com/
